HANOVER, NJ — The West Orange 8U travel team came within a goal of a comeback for the ages on Saturday, storming back from 3-0 down before falling just short against Hanover, 3-2.

The first half was a battle. Hanover scored the only goal of the half, and West Orange's defense dug in to keep it 1-0 at the break.

DOWN THREE, STILL FIGHTING

Hanover added two more goals early in the second half, and at 3-0 the game looked gone. West Orange decided otherwise.

THE COMEBACK

West Orange came to life with two goals to slice the lead to 3-2 — one of them caught on video right here in this story — and suddenly it was Hanover hanging on.

West Orange kept pushing for the equalizer until the final whistle, playing its best soccer when the game was hardest.

They didn't get the win. They got something that lasts longer — proof that this team never quits. Hanover knows it now, too.
