CALDWELL, NJ — Caldwell's 10U boys never backed down on Sunday, going toe to toe with Hanover Soccer Club in a physical, heated battle before falling 3-1.
Hanover struck first from the penalty spot in the first half and added two more to build a 3-0 lead, but the score never told the story of the fight. Caldwell contested every ball and made Hanover earn every inch of the field.
REWARDED AT THE END
The breakthrough finally came in the final five minutes, when Caldwell pushed one across for its first goal — the reward for a full game's worth of pressure that refused to quit, even at 3-0 down.
There was no second goal in it, and Hanover closed out the 3-1 win. But Caldwell walked off with heads high: this was a battle from the first whistle to the last, and they were in it until the very end.
