Six goals, four different scorers, and a night the Golden Panthers will be talking about all season. Pequannock rolled past Morris Catholic 6-1 on Tuesday, with the finishing, the playmaking, and the goalkeeping all clicking at the same time.
Gavin Visscher put together the kind of stat line players dream about: three goals and two assists, meaning he had a hand in five of Pequannock's six goals. When one player is creating that much, a defense has to choose its poison — and the Panthers made Morris Catholic pay for every single choice.
The beautiful part was how much help he had. Alex Kolatac scored once and set up another goal, David Mangarelli and Nico Longobucco each found the net, Longobucco added an assist of his own, and Matthew Gonzales chipped in an assist. Four different scorers and four different assist providers is not one hot hand — that is an entire attack in rhythm.
And on the occasions Morris Catholic pushed back, the Panthers' goalkeeping tandem slammed the door. Patrick Iglar made four saves and Matthew Bertuna added two more, six combined stops with just one goal allowed. Complete performances like this one — attack, depth, and defense all in the same game — are how good seasons turn into special ones.
Stars of the Game: Gavin Visscher, the Five-Star Panther, with three goals and two assists. Alex Kolatac, the Double Threat, with a goal and an assist. Nico Longobucco, the Two-Way Spark, who scored one and set one up. And Patrick Iglar and Matthew Bertuna, the Wall at the Back, with six combined saves.
